A heart- wrenching road accident at Ugwu Onyeama along the Enugu-Onitsha federal highway has resulted in the deaths of at least 25 people.
The incident, which involved ten vehicles including private cars and commercial buses, was reportedly triggered by a Nigerian Army checkpoint. A truck, unable to brake, collided with vehicles stopped on the hilly road.
Many victims sustained severe injuries and are being transported to local hospitals. Eyewitnesses reported that the accident caused significant destruction, with some vehicles, including a petrol tanker, ending up in a ditch.
