The Plateau State Government has confirmed the death of 22 individuals and injuries to 132 others following the collapse of Saints Academy in Jos.

The secondary school building gave way during a third-term examination, trapping students and staff. Emergency services have rescued 154 people from the rubble. Governor Mutfwang has mandated all hospitals to prioritize treatment for the injured, and a thorough investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway. The state government emphasizes strict adherence to safety standards to prevent future tragedies.

Commissioner Musa Ashom highlighted that emergency response protocols were swiftly activated, involving agencies like NEMA, SEMA, and the Red Cross. The government has also ordered immediate inspections of school buildings to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The community mourns the loss, with officials offering their deepest sympathies and unwavering support to the affected families.
