Former US President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania, attributing his survival to either divine intervention or sheer luck.

The attack occurred mid-speech, with Trump narrowly avoiding a fatal shot as the bullet grazed his ear. Despite the ordeal, Trump remained defiant, briefly pausing to pump his fist before being escorted off stage. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service agents. The incident also resulted in one spectator’s death and two others injured.

Trump recounted the harrowing moment, emphasizing the precise timing that saved his life. He expressed astonishment at surviving such a close call, noting that he felt destined to be dead. The assassination attempt has sparked widespread reactions, with President Joe Biden condemning the violence and insisting that political differences should not lead to bloodshed. Security measures at political events are expected to tighten in response to the incident.
