Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the esteemed President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has passed away at the age of 82.

The respected leader, who was appointed to the position in April 2023 following the death of Prof. George Obiozor, died on July 25, 2024, in Abuja. This marks the second time in history that a President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has died while in office.

Chief Iwuanyanwu’s death is a significant loss to both the Igbo community and the broader Nigerian society. Known for his immense contributions to business, politics, and philanthropy, he was a guiding force in advancing various sectors, including media and education. His legacy includes his influential role as the Publisher of Champion Newspapers and his dedication to numerous community development projects. The outpouring of grief from across the nation underscores the profound impact he made during his lifetime.
