President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to inaugurate the largest School of Nursing and Midwifery in Sub-Saharan Africa, located at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHaS) in Ho, Ghana.
This landmark facility, announced by Deputy Minister for Education John Ntim Fordjour, is part of the UHaS’s Phase II project. It boasts an ultra-modern skills laboratory, multiple lecture halls with a seating capacity of 2,500, including four halls seating 200 students each and 17 halls seating 100 students each, and a central administration complex. The new development is a $68 million investment that aims to enhance healthcare education and training in the region.
Fordjour highlighted the project’s significance, stating, “This is another sterling legacy of President Akufo-Addo.” He added that the project, which began in September 2021, reflects the government’s commitment to advancing educational infrastructure and healthcare services. The official commissioning is scheduled for July 29, 2024, and is expected to draw significant attention from the education and healthcare sectors.
