Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi announced a 24-hour indefinite curfew following violent protests.

He stated that in the Muslim-majority state, protests are un-Islamic and ineffective in addressing grievances, emphasizing that only Allah can cause or alleviate hardship. The governor expressed concerns over vandalism and theft during the protests, often involving young boys, and stressed that maintaining order is a priority.

He assured residents that the curfew would be reassessed in collaboration with security agencies. To allow for Friday prayers, the curfew will be lifted briefly from 12 PM to 2:30 PM, resuming thereafter. This move comes after the burning of the All Progressives Congress (APC) state secretariat in Dutse amidst the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests. Governor Namadi urged compliance with the curfew to ensure public safety and prevent further unrest.
