A recent session in the Turkish Parliament descended into chaos as lawmakers engaged in a physical altercation during a heated debate over the detention of an opposition delegate, Can Atalay.

The scuffle broke out when Ahmet Sik, who accused President Erdogan’s ruling party of being a “terrorist organization,” was attacked at the podium. The violence escalated, leaving a female lawmaker injured with bloodstains on the chamber steps. Ozgur Ozel, leader of the largest opposition party, condemned the incident, stating, “It is a shameful situation. Instead of exchanging words, fists are flying, and there is blood on the ground.”

The session was focused on the case of Can Atalay, who has been unable to take his parliamentary seat due to his imprisonment despite a ruling from the Constitutional Court in his favor. The situation has sparked widespread criticism from human rights organizations and legal experts, highlighting ongoing concerns about Turkey’s judicial system.
