Paris, famed for its romantic allure, will soon witness a unique love story unfold at the Paralympic Games.Christiana and Kayode Alabi, Nigeria’s top Para-table tennis players, are set to compete together, aiming for gold in the French capital.

Their journey began in 2017 during national trials, where Kayode was instantly drawn to Christiana. Despite her initial reservations, their connection grew over time, with Christiana eventually moving to Lagos in 2019 to join Kayode and advance her career.

Their relationship, though met with skepticism due to their disabilities, has flourished both personally and professionally. “We listen to each other and work well together,” Kayode shared, highlighting their strong partnership. The couple’s journey has not been without challenges, from navigating Nigeria’s inaccessible public infrastructure to facing societal prejudices. Yet, they remain determined, training rigorously for the Games. “My expectation is to get to the top, bring honour to Nigeria, my family, and my husband,” Christiana expressed.

As they prepare for Paris 2024, their story of love, resilience, and mutual support promises to inspire many across the globe.
