Nigerian fuel stations are overwhelmed with long queues as fuel scarcity intensifies, creating widespread frustration among citizens. The situation is exacerbated by rampant petrol smuggling to neighboring countries like Benin and Niger, despite efforts to close the borders. “We are seeing fewer supplies, and demand is overwhelming,” shared a station attendant.
A resident voiced their frustration, saying, “We wait for hours, and prices keep rising, making life even harder.” The scarcity has also led to a significant spike in transportation costs, impacting daily life and businesses. Commuters are particularly hard-hit, with fares doubling in some areas. Despite assurances from authorities, there is growing skepticism about when the situation will improve.
As the crisis deepens, Nigerians continue to bear the brunt of shortages and escalating fuel prices, with no immediate solution in sight. The lack of clarity from the government only adds to the uncertainty and anxiety among the populace.
