The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, marking a significant shift in leadership for the national team.

NFF Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi made the announcement via a tweet on the NFF’s X handle early Tuesday morning. Labbadia, the 37th head coach in the team’s history, steps in following the resignation of Finidi George. In his new role, Labbadia will be tasked with leading the Super Eagles in the crucial 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The team is scheduled to face Benin Republic at home on September 7 and will travel to Rwanda for an away match three days later. The Super Eagles camp is set to open on September 1 in Uyo, signaling the beginning of preparations under Labbadia’s leadership.
