Despite the nation grappling with severe economic challenges, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Yemi Cardoso, along with his four deputies, have acquired six armored Lexus LX 600 2023 SUVs worth over N10 billion.

This move comes amid growing concerns over the lavish spending of public officials, especially during a period of widespread inflation and hardship. Insiders revealed that these purchases were in addition to existing armored vehicles in their convoy, and that Mr. Cardoso also procured about 20 Toyota Camry cars for CBN management.

The governor and his deputies have reportedly increased their annual housing allowances to nearly 1 billion Naira and upgraded their international travel privileges to first class. Efforts to get a response from the CBN spokesperson were unsuccessful.
