Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru-Bago has expressed deep sorrow over a tragic tanker explosion in Essa village, Katcha Local Government Area, which claimed 48 lives and killed 50 cows. In a statement through his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor described the incident as “devastating” and “colossal.” He also extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.

The governor assured that the state government, through the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), has deployed teams for rescue operations. “The loss is painful and unfortunate,” Umaru-Bago remarked, adding that efforts will be made to support the victims. He further urged road users to prioritize safety by adhering to traffic regulations to prevent future tragedies.
