The National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) has urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to take immediate steps to ease the suffering of Nigerians by reducing the prices of petrol and electricity. The call, made by Dr. Samuel Danjuma Gani, NCEF Chairman and former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, emphasized that rising fuel costs have significantly impacted food prices and other essential goods.

The group also highlighted the importance of bolstering security, particularly for rural farmers, to strengthen the nation’s food supply. In their statement, the NCEF said, “We recommend a downward review of petrol prices to alleviate the suffering of the people,” further adding, “Reducing electricity tariffs will improve productivity and create job opportunities for our youth.” The forum expressed confidence in the government’s ability to implement these measures to reduce the hardships faced by many Nigerians.
