Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has retracted his previous assertion that paying tithe is essential for entry into heaven. He described this statement as a “mistake,” clarifying that the Bible emphasizes “peaceful and holy living” as the true prerequisites for salvation.

While addressing his congregation, Adeboye stated, “I apologise for saying ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible.” He further explained, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.” He also encouraged a broader understanding of giving, suggesting that the concept of tithing should evolve beyond a strict 10% limit.
