The Court of Appeal in Enugu has officially removed Hon. Simon Atigwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from his position in the House of Representatives, confirming the Election Petition Tribunal’s earlier decision.

The court declared Hon. Dennis Nnamdi Agbo of the Labour Party (LP) as the rightful winner of the February 3, 2024 re-run election for the Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency. Justice J.O. Ekanem, chairing the three-member panel, announced the unanimous judgment.

Labour Party lawyer Ifeanyi Ogenyi celebrated the outcome, stating, “Congratulations to the people of Igbo Eze North/Udenu Federal constituency. The wheel of justice turns slowly, but it grinds. Truth and justice have prevailed.”

Notably, Agbo had previously won the February 25, 2023 election but was ousted by an appellate court, prompting him to challenge Atigwe’s subsequent declaration and ultimately secure victory in both the tribunal and the Appeal Court.
