Justice John Tsoho, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has denied Nnamdi Kanu’s request for Justice Binta Nyako to step aside from his case. Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, expressed to journalists that he lacks confidence in Justice Nyako due to her alleged failure to adhere to Supreme Court orders.

While Justice Nyako had previously shown readiness to recuse herself following Kanu’s oral application, Chief Judge Tsoho emphasized that she remains the most qualified judge for the case, citing that two judges have already been removed since 2015.

Tsoho stated, “If Kanu insists on her recusal during his next appearance, he must submit a written motion along with an affidavit outlining the grounds for his request.” Kanu’s counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed they are awaiting the court’s notice for the next steps.
