The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is convening a National Executive Council meeting in response to the recent fuel price increase by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), which raised the pump price of petrol significantly across various regions.

In Abuja, the price jumped from ₦897 to ₦1,030 per litre, while prices in Lagos increased from ₦855 to ₦998, among other regional adjustments. Public backlash has been fierce, with many Nigerians calling on President Bola Tinubu to reverse the hike.

NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, emphasized the procedural nature of the NLC’s decision-making, stating, “No NLC president will come out and say, we are going to start strike tomorrow… without the organs meeting.” He assured that a meeting would occur by next week to discuss the organization’s response.
