Burkina Faso has secured its place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals, becoming the first team to qualify after a decisive 2-0 victory over Burundi. Goals from Mohamed Konate and a penalty by Bertrand Traore brought the Stallions to 10 points in Group L, ensuring they will finish in the top two.

Captain Ibrahim Traore praised the team’s performance, stating, “I express my warm congratulations to the Stallions and their technical staff for this brilliant performance during these qualifying phases,” and he encouraged the players to serve as an example for the nation.

As Senegal sits in second place with seven points, they could also qualify if they win their upcoming match against Malawi. The AFCON finals will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
