Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti made it clear that his scholarship program is funded by his foundation, not the Abia State Government. This clarification was given during his speech at the 2022-2023 Alex Otti Scholarship scheme event, held at the Sacramento Event Centre in Olokoro, Umuahia South. He highlighted that this humanitarian initiative was initiated over seven years ago, even before his term as Governor, and he remains dedicated to its continuation. Governor Otti’s motivation for this program is rooted in his empathy for disadvantaged young individuals who aspire to access educational opportunities.He sees this effort as his personal contribution to shaping the future of these youths and has pledged to sustain it as long as he is granted the opportunity, stressing the significance of leaving a positive impact on people’s lives rather than accumulating wealth.
