The Abia State Government has converted the cattle market at Lokpanta in Umunneochi LGA into a daily non-residential market to address security issues along the Lokpanta-Umunneochi-Uturu axis. The Security Adviser, Navy Commander MacDonald Uba, clarified that the government did not ask the Hausa community to leave and that the market was a hub for criminal activities, including kidnappings. The government destroyed 160 brothel rooms and extended the market into the median lane of the Okigwe-Enugu expressway. They plan to make it a non-residential daily market to enhance security in the area, ensuring it operates from 6 am to 5 pm daily.
