Telecom industry leaders in Nigeria, represented by ALTON and NCC, are considering tariff increases due to the current unsustainable pricing structure.

ALTON’s Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo, highlighted the escalating operational expenses faced by operators, aggravated by a multitude of taxes.Additionally, he stressed the urgency of settling USSD debts owed by Deposit Money Banks, amounting to N200 billion. Adebayo warned of potential service blockages for debtor banks.In response, NCC Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida, assured support for the sector, aligning actions with governmental agendas. He emphasized the necessity of setting timelines for issue resolution and pledged commitment to sustainable sector growth.Acknowledging the telecom sector’s pivotal role in the economy, Maida urged operators to implement measures ensuring long-term viability.
