Sani Yakubu Noma, a federal lawmaker representing Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency of Kebbi State in the House of Representatives, has announced plans to facilitate the marriages of 100 female orphans.

Noma clarified that this initiative is part of his efforts to support the welfare of orphans within his constituency. He mentioned that the wedding ceremony is scheduled to occur at the Palace of the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, on an upcoming Saturday. The selection of candidates for marriage was drawn from both local government areas he represents in the National Assembly.To ensure the success of the event, a committee has been established, and Noma mentioned that he has already acquired beds, mattresses, essential furniture, and other necessary items for the prospective brides.The initiative to assist women in getting married is not uncommon in the northern region of the country. In a similar vein, the Kano State Government recently organized a mass wedding for approximately 1,700 couples, providing furniture, food items, and clothing materials worth over N800 million. Each bride received a set of beds, mattresses, pillows, and a startup sum of N20,000 for business endeavors. The state authorities also established criteria for the selection of beneficiaries and outlined penalties for those who divorce their spouses after the government-supported marriage.
