Chief Albert Ambrose Owuru, a presidential candidate in the 2019 elections, has taken President Bola Tinubu to the Supreme Court, contesting Tinubu’s inauguration as President amidst an ongoing legal action over the conduct of the 2023 presidential poll.

Owuru claims that Tinubu’s declaration as President by the INEC is unlawful due to a pending case against the election’s legitimacy. Owuru insists that as Tinubu is involved in the ongoing Supreme Court suit, his inauguration is a violation of legal principles. This suit stems from Owuru’s claim of being the rightful winner of the 2019 election, a matter still pending in the courts. Owuru seeks nullification of Tinubu’s presidency and demands an order restraining Tinubu from accessing funds until the constitutional questions surrounding the 2023 election are resolved.
