The FCT High Court has postponed the hearing for a suit seeking damages related to illegal organ harvesting in February 19, 2024.

Justice Abdullahi Aminu adjourned the case to allow both parties adequate time to prepare. The lawsuit, filed by the father of a 16-year-old victim, Salaudeen Saliman Adedoyin, targets Dr. Aremu Abayomi Adeniran, Dr. Christopher Otabor, and Alliance Hospital and Services Ltd. This action stemmed from a Daily Trust investigation exposing an organ harvesting syndicate involving Alliance Hospital.

During the hearing, the defense counsel, C. J. Dimgba, requested an adjournment as he was recently briefed and needed time to study the case file. The Legal Aid Council, representing the victim, did not oppose the adjournment. The suit aims to secure N500 million for wrongful organ removal and an additional N200 million for the emotional and psychological trauma suffered by Adedoyin’s son. The victim recounted being lured into signing documents under false pretenses by hospital staff, eventually leading to a forced kidney transplant surgery. The delay in the court proceedings highlights the complexity of the case and the need for thorough preparation from both sides.
