The Archbishop of Saint Mary in Astana, Kazakhstan, Tomash Peta, alongside Auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider, has responded to the Vatican’s declaration allowing blessings for same-sex couples.

The Archbishop firmly prohibits priests and the faithful from participating in or conducting any form of blessing for couples in irregular situations or same-sex couples. They contest that such blessings contradict the Catholic Church’s longstanding doctrine and Divine Revelation. They urge Pope Francis to revoke the permission, fearing destructive consequences and the Church’s alignment with “gender ideology.”
