The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed over 200 employees, continuing a trend of workforce reductions.

This follows the earlier termination of 117 staff members between March and April 2024. The recent layoffs affect personnel across various ranks, including directors and senior managers. Sources within the bank confirmed the action, noting the dismissals aim to reorganize for more effective operations. Further phases of layoffs are expected.

In February, the CBN also redeployed 1,500 employees from its headquarters to Lagos, citing structural alignment and compliance with safety regulations. Efforts to reach the bank’s corporate communications director for comment were unsuccessful.
