The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have declared a nationwide strike starting Monday, June 3rd, 2024.

This decision comes after the tripartite committee failed to reach an agreement on a new minimum wage. TUC President Festus Osifo announced the strike during a joint news conference with NLC leadership, citing the government’s delay in concluding negotiations before the end of May. The unions had previously withdrawn from talks, rejecting the latest offer of N60,000 from the Federal Government. More details to follow.
