The Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP) has announced plans to sue President Bola Tinubu following his approval of the National Anthem Act 2024, which reinstates the old anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”

ALDRAP argues that the enactment process lacked constitutional compliance, including public consultation and proper legislative procedures. They also highlight the financial burden the change imposes without corresponding budgetary provisions. The president, alongside the Senate president and the speaker of the House of Representatives, will be named in the lawsuit.
