The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has cautioned workers employed in essential services about the legal repercussions of striking without a 15-day notice to their employers.

As per Section 18 of the Trade Disputes Act, non-compliance can lead to a fine or six months imprisonment. Fagbemi highlighted that the federal government is still negotiating a new national minimum wage and that the proposed strike contravenes a National Industrial Court order.

He urged workers to pursue their cause through ongoing negotiations and within the law to avoid unnecessary hardships on Nigerians.
