The Super Eagles of Nigeria sang the former national anthem, “Arise O Compatriot,” instead of the newly reinstated “Nigeria We Hail Thee,” during their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers match against Benin Republic on Monday.
This comes after President Bola Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law on May 29, which reinstated “Nigeria We Hail Thee” as the official anthem.
