Renowned Palestinian footballer Ahmad Abu al-Atta, along with his wife Ruba Esmael Abu al-Atta and their two children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City.

Ahmad, who played for Al-Ahly Gaza, is one of the latest casualties in the ongoing conflict. The Palestinian Football Association confirmed the tragic news, marking another loss in the sports community following the deaths of other notable figures like referee Hani Mesmeh and soccer player Mohammed Barakat. Since the conflict began in October 2023, over 300 athletes and sports officials have lost their lives, and all sports facilities in Gaza have been destroyed.
