In Gwoza town, Borno State, a woman carrying an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated a bomb at a wedding ceremony, resulting in the deaths of eight people, including the woman and her baby.

The explosion, which occurred at Tashan Mararaba near the Fire Service, also left fifteen others injured, who are now receiving treatment at General Hospital Gwoza. The Borno State Police Command confirmed the tragic event, which took place on June 29, 2024, at approximately 3:40 PM. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailant had infiltrated the wedding venue with the IED.
