France has commenced a critical parliamentary election with voters casting ballots for the first round.

Marine Le Pen’s anti-immigration National Rally is projected to lead, challenging Macron’s centrist alliance. A new left-wing coalition also poses a significant challenge.
The election spans both mainland France and its overseas territories, with results anticipated late Sunday. In New Caledonia, polling closed early due to ongoing unrest and a curfew, highlighting tensions in French territories. The election will determine the 577 members of the National Assembly, impacting France’s legislative future.
