South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a new cabinet lineup last evening, aiming to tackle the nation’s pressing challenges over the next five years. Notably, John Steenhuisen, leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), has been appointed as the new Minister of Agriculture, marking a significant inclusion of opposition leadership in the executive team.

In a strategic reshuffle, Ramaphosa has removed Naledi Pandor from her position as the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, appointing Ronald Lamola to take over the role. The cabinet changes reflect Ramaphosa’s efforts to strengthen his administration and address key issues facing South Africa, including economic recovery, agricultural development, and international relations.

The newly announced cabinet is expected to drive policy changes and implement strategies to boost South Africa’s growth and stability, with a focus on collaboration across political lines.

The inclusion of Steenhuisen highlights a potential shift towards a more inclusive governance approach as the country navigates its socio-economic landscape.
