A former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Takai Shamang, was kidnapped from his residence in Biniki, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The abduction, which occurred around 8:00 pm on Friday, was confirmed by his daughter, Mrs. Grace Abbin, on Sunday. Shamang, 78, also a former president-general of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, is the founder and President of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans, and Needy Foundation (GAWON Foundation).
Authorities are yet to release details regarding the kidnappers or any ransom demands. This incident has raised concerns about the rising insecurity in the region, highlighting the vulnerability of prominent figures to such attacks. The community and Shamang’s family are anxiously awaiting further developments.
