Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its extravagant spending and urged Nigerian leaders to adopt Kenya’s model of responsible governance.

Obi highlighted Kenya’s recent austerity measures, such as canceling budgets for the First Lady’s office and reducing the number of advisers, as examples of responsive governance driven by citizens’ needs. He emphasized the need for Nigerian leaders to prioritize public welfare over personal interests to achieve meaningful progress.

Obi also praised the Kenyan President’s transparency in addressing public concerns, contrasting it with Nigeria’s leadership, which he claims often uses public funds to silence critics. He called for Nigerian leaders to make sacrifices for the greater good and to listen to the grievances of the suffering masses. Obi believes that with sincere and responsible leadership, a new Nigeria is possible.
