Everton has turned down Manchester United’s offer for defender Jarrad Branthwaite. United offered £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons after a £43 million bid was rejected last month.

Branthwaite, 21, is valued at £70-80 million by Everton. United thinks this is too high, but Everton compares it to past fees for Harry Maguire (£80m), Wesley Fofana (£75m), and Josko Gvardiol (£77.6m).

Everton recently sold players for £20 million to comply with league rules. They don’t want to sell Branthwaite. United also has an eye on Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt.
