As the upcoming China-Africa summit approaches, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between China and Africa.

During a press conference on Friday, Chen highlighted the significance of the summit in voicing the Global South’s role in reforming global governance. He remarked, “Currently, a once-in-a-century change is accelerating, and the world has entered a period of turbulence and transformation.”

The summit, scheduled to begin on September 5th, will see Chinese President Xi Jinping announce new aid for Africa and welcome representatives from 53 African nations. The summit underscores China’s growing influence as Africa’s largest trading partner and a major player in the continent’s development through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
