Twenty-one Palestinians have been killed and dozens more wounded in new Israeli air strikes on a humanitarian area in western Rafah, according to Palestinian medical officials and residents.

The strikes targeted tents housing displaced families in Mawasi, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 women. This attack follows a previous strike on Sunday that targeted a Hamas compound and killed at least 45 people, igniting a fire in a camp for displaced Palestinians.

The Gaza health ministry reports a death toll of 36,096 since the conflict began in October 2023, with 46 deaths in the past 24 hours alone. Despite an International Court of Justice order to halt operations, Israel continues its air strikes, asserting its actions are aimed at Hamas militants responsible for the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
