Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, has expressed a philosophical acceptance of life’s unpredictability, stating that only God knows how long he will remain on the throne.

Speaking with Saturday Sun, Sanusi emphasized that he could die tomorrow or be removed by another governor, but his main concern is preserving the emirate’s thousand-year history. Sanusi, recently reinstated after being dethroned in 2020 by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, highlighted his gratitude to the current government for restoring the emirate.

During his four-year absence, Sanusi completed a PhD thesis at the University of London. His reinstatement is currently being contested in court by Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir.
