A 14-year-old named Heman Bekele from Virginia has earned recognition as America’s Top Young Scientist in 2023 for his innovative soap that can treat skin cancer. He won the 3M Young Scientists Challenge and received a $25,000 prize. Bekele’s soap combines medicinal soap with three ingredients that reactivate dendritic cells to combat cancer, and it costs just $0.50 per bar compared to the expensive medical treatments currently available. He aims to further develop this invention and establish a nonprofit to make it accessible to underserved communities, driven by the desire to prevent unnecessary deaths due to the high cost of treatment in developing countries. His journey began with researching skin cancer and understanding the role of dendritic cells. #OMAGIST@AFRICAWORLDNEWS*
