Fourteen young Ghanaian migrants who left for Russia with hopes of securing well-paid jobs have found themselves trapped in the Russia-Ukraine war. Deceived by a contractor, Abraham Boakye, popularly known as “One Man Supporter,” they were promised jobs in security and agriculture but ended up being recruited into the Russian army.

“We are suffering; please come and rescue us,” pleaded one of the migrants, speaking to TV3 journalist Godwin Asidiba. Their ordeal began when they signed a military contract, believing it was for job training. Two of the 14 men were sent to the frontlines, and the others remain trapped in Donetsk, Ukraine, with their passports seized and no way to escape. “We have no fight training experience.

We are pleading; we want to return home,” one of them shared, revealing the dire conditions they face. The migrants paid 130,000 rubles each to Boakye, who is now unreachable. Their situation grows more desperate as they live in constant fear of being sent to war. The Russian embassy in Ghana has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the alleged recruitment of Ghanaians.
