Igbo women, under the Igbo Women Assembly (IWA), have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the escalating herdsmen crisis in South East Nigeria.

At a press conference, IWA National President Lolo Nneka Chimezie urged the disarming of violent herdsmen responsible for attacks on farmers. The women also demanded the removal of military checkpoints hindering the region’s economy and urged the enactment of strict anti-grazing laws.

They criticized the lack of arrests following recent killings by suspected herders and emphasized the need for herders to establish ranches instead of damaging farmlands.
