During the 112th International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Deputy President, Dr. Tommy Okon, announced that Organised Labour has revised its minimum wage demand from N250,000 to N100,000.
Despite not setting a deadline for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to propose the new wage to the National Assembly, labour insists on a figure exceeding six figures, considering the soaring inflation rates attributed to the removal of petrol subsidies and the floating of the naira.
Dr. Okon emphasized that any amount below a six-figure threshold would be considered a starvation wage, urging the government to address the pressing economic challenges facing Nigerians.
