After over 14 hours of detention at Al Abraq International Airport, the Libyan government has responded to mounting pressure by clearing a Nigerian flight to bring the Super Eagles team back home.

Sports journalist Adepoju Tobi Samuel, known as OgaNlaMedia, reported that the Libyan authorities initially attempted to offer a pre-clearance for the team to land in Benghazi, which had ongoing issues.

He noted, “After pressure from several quarters, the Libyan government has agreed to issue clearance for ValueJet Airline.” The Nigerian Football Federation insisted on direct clearance to Nigeria, which ultimately led to the release.
