Big Brother Naija ‘PepperDem’ edition winner, Mercy Eke, has voiced her distress over the shutdown of Heritage Bank, leaving over ₦100 million of her funds trapped.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revoked the bank’s operating license on June 3, appointing the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC) as liquidator. Depositors are to receive up to ₦5 million using their Bank Verification Numbers, with additional amounts contingent on asset liquidation. Eke highlighted the financial strain this causes, especially given the mandatory account setup during her participation in the reality show.
