Paul Julius Goewam, a promising 20-year-old Nigerian footballer, tragically lost his life in a car accident in Cyprus. The incident occurred on August 20, 2024, when Goewam’s vehicle collided with another on the Paralimni-Protaras road. A native of Plateau State, Goewam had recently joined Enosis Neon Paralimni FC, having transferred from Egyptian club El Gaish just three weeks prior.

Enosis Neon Paralimni FC expressed their sorrow in a heartfelt statement, saying, “The tragic news of his death has shocked us all. Despite the hardships and sufferings he faced to join our family, he remained steadfast and determined to fulfill his goals.

His memory will live on in our hearts.” The 74-year-old driver of the other vehicle involved is currently receiving medical treatment but is not in critical condition. Authorities are appealing for witnesses as the Famagusta Traffic Department investigates the incident.
