The indigenes of Aba North and South in Abia State have urged Governor Alex Otti to reconsider his plan to appoint an industrialist from Anambra state, Chief Ide John Udeagbala, as the “Mayor of Aba.” They argue that this appointment, which is said to be unconstitutional, insults the indigenous people of Aba and shows deliberate exclusion from appointments in the governor’s cabinet. The Indigenous People of Aba Ngwa have vowed to resist any attempt to incite violence in Aba City and called for more equitable appointments among the various ethnic groups in Abia State.
