Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has emerged resolute after being interrogated by the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Abuja concerning alarming allegations of terrorism financing and criminal conspiracy.

Accompanied by Deputy Lead Counsel Maxwell Opara and a team of lawyers from Falana & Falana’s Chambers, Ajaero returned to the Labour House undeterred, declaring his unwavering commitment to workers’ rights. “We have gotten minimum wage which has not been implemented, so we have to press for its implementation as soon as possible,” he stated, underscoring the urgency of the ongoing struggle.

Ajaero also reflected on past challenges, recalling, “As far back as 1998, I was telling Falana we were together in the cell enjoying ourselves in the time of Abacha.” Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju, who was present during the police visit, noted the brevity of the interview, adding, “We also told them to release all protesters in their custody or charge them to court.” Ajaero expressed gratitude to the NLC, NAC, NEC, and CWC for their unwavering support, signaling that the fight is far from over.
