The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has claimed that all the recovered stolen public funds during Muhammadu Buhari’s administration have gone missing from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to SERAP, this discovery came to light when the CBN management failed to provide an account for the funds. Despite the Buhari government’s disclosure of over one billion dollars recovered from 2015 to 2022, the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) has disputed the amount.

Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, stated that the recovered funds had been utilized for various sectors, including poverty alleviation. This revelation raises significant concerns about accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s financial management.
